We Welcome You...
Camp Sagitawa is so much fun! And right now we are in full gear, preparing for the summer of 2011.
We hope you will be able to take part in the fun. Why not bring your friend, and plan to do camp together this
summer?
Important Parent Info..
Please discuss applicable documents with children registered for camp this summer.
Brochure Locations..
We send a brochure to every camper who attended one of our programs within the last 2 years, and to each individual on our support list. We also
leave our brochures in many places. Here is a list of the places we dropped them off this year...
General Region..
Fort St John, Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, Hudson's Hope, Ft Nelson, Mackenzie, and most towns in between. We also extend into Alberta
as far east as Grande Prairie, and as far north as Sexsmith.
Brochures are found in most of the following..
Schools, churches, tourist information centers, town arenas, pools, libraries, service stations, places like the Ark Christian
Center, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, Resource Societies, Friendship Centers, and Child Development Centers
We bring our brochures to..
Trade Shows, School visits, Climbing Wall rentals
Note that the SD#59 and SD#60 are both now permitting brochures to be available to students wanting them.
What's New..
Mountain Bike CourseWe are reworking the course from last summer to make a better track for various levels of bikers. Please note that the
course is meant to be a mountain bike trail and not a BMX track.
Ride the WildThe trip has changed... brought closer to the camp to use some safer available bike trails in the Chetwynd/ Moberly area.
Trail Ride Family CampCome to the Trail Ride camp with your family for the weekend!
Sagitawa Water ParkYes, we want to put up a water climbing wall, a giant blob, fix the jungle swing, and add a donated water slide. Will it be
done this year? Unfortunately, it will have to wait one more year! We have to do it right in order to take care of the lake and then environment, and
so we have had to reschedule it.

How Can I Help?
God's greatest blessing in the lives of people is almost always through relationship with other people. People give, share quality time,
and offer love and hope. In fact, "He who does not love his neighbour, cannot love God."
Camp Sagitawa wants to share God's limitless love with people. You might ask how we do so with with limited resources. The answer
is that over the years many people like yourself have chosen to share their love for people by helping us. It is through the help of these
people, that our resources are multiplied. We are thankful.
How can you help us bless the lives of people through Christian Camping?
- Let us know you are interested in volunteering somehow
- Ask for regular prayer emails to pray for us
- Send a Child to Camp - Sponsorship Fund
- Support the Bursary Fund or the General Camp Ministry
Thank you for making the effort to share your kindness and love with people.
2011 Flood Damage..
The second last week of June brought a lot of rain. We estimate close to 9 inches fell. The ground became over saturated,
watersheds became torrents, and rivers became floods. Our lake level broke records. One elder in the community says she can't
remember the lake ever being so high in over 60 years. The boatshed was under 5 feet or more, and the lake reached just beyond the
main firepit. Water seeped out of the ground and formed little creeks. The camp well became artesian from the pressure of ground
water in the hills above.
Bridges and roads were destroyed all over this area. Most have since been restored. Our camp programs continued through it all.
We did, however, have to cancel most of the SWAT trips this summer. Two were modified: the Upper Moberly canoe trip took place on
the lake since the river was too high and dangerous. The Little Zion hike trip was postponed to take place on Aug 7-12.
We are also playing safe with our well water and with the lakefront. Test samples are being taken regularly. We used bottled /
boiled water for drinking / cooking until the first tests came back. They were excellent. As some Moberly sewage systems compromised
the lake upstream, residents were concerned about swimming and boating. So we sent a sample, and forwarded the results to Northern
Health Authority. They compared it with limits for beach swimming. The E.Coli levels found in the samples were less than 10% of the
limit required to close beaches. The following week the result dropped by another 90%. Another week later, NHA took their own samples
and declared the lake to be ok for recreation and swimming.
About our Logo..
We value relationship, community and mentoring, as reflected by the two people in the canoe, and the one in front pointing
something out to the one in the back. The canoe speaks of recreation, and the paddling action has slowed to represent the
moments in life that are more important than activity, and yet the teaching component is far stronger when nested in the
recreational environment, because it brings people together. The water reflection speaks of the many opportunities at camp
to contemplate life. The small "CS" on the canoe, is a general reference to Camp Sagitawa in general
(whether Trail Rides,
SWAT, or the Main Camp.)
The Christian component is not shown specifically by design. First, it is already evident by our name, 'Sagitawa Christian
Camps'. Second, we do not wish to compartmentalize our faith, but rather teach how to live it through all parts of our lives.
The discussion in the canoe may relate to biblical elements, or it may be about getting along with others, or simply pointing
out the need to take notice of the beauty around us. All of those elements are important in the way we behave as Christians.
